Dr. Brent L. Lockwood
Associate Professor
Email Brent CV
Brent received a B.S. in Ecology, Behavior and Evolution and a B.A. in Archaeological Anthropology from UC San Diego. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University, where he worked in the lab of Dr. George Somero on ecological genomics and protein evolution in marine mussels. Brent was an NIH postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Dr. Kristi Montooth at Indiana University, where he studied mechanisms of thermal tolerance in the Drosophila melanogaster embryo. Brent joined the faculty in the Department of Biology at UVM in 2014, where he continues to pursue questions at the interface of evolution, ecology, and physiology.

Thomas O'Leary
PhD Candidate
Email Thomas
Thomas received a B.A. in Biology from the University of Vermont in 2016. After graduation, Thomas worked as a lab technician specializing in DNA and RNA sequencing for Charles River Labs in Philadelphia. Thomas then spent a year and a half as a research technician in the Previs Lab in the Dept. of Molecular Physiology at UVM, using proteomics to study the role of MyBP-C in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. For his dissertation, Thomas is investigating the genetic basis of variation in developmental physiology in the early Drosophila embryo.
